The are not plastic, have thick glass globes and a metal housing that refect the light in a beautiful pattern. We ordered numerous boxes and only 1 has a problem. It never gets bright and after a week of rain, the globe had a lot of water in it. The bulbs are long and I think the was submerged for a while because the tip of the bulb is actually discolored. I will see about the warranty, especially since the purchase was fairly recent.
