Common Misconceptions About Solar Products

Posted 10-11-17 | Filed under Solar Education | Comments (0)

Solar panels aren't bulky or fragile anymoreAs green energy continues to be popular thanks to a continued surge in environmentalism, solar products such as lighting, power generation and camping supplies are in heavy demand. Despite its continued popularity, there are still many people that believe solar power isn’t worth investing in. There are misconceptions that have plagued the industry for years, but Earth Tech Products believes in this technology and wants to set the record straight.

Solar Powered Products Are Inefficient

Many people believe solar panels that can power generators, appliances and even homes are too inefficient to be of any real use. They believe that spending potentially thousands of dollars on solar equipment to be foolish, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

It’s true that for many years solar efficiency was stagnant. With the invention of the silicon solar cell and improvements to decrease the cost of solar panels, products powered by solar energy became efficient and affordable. You’ll find solar cells on everything from massive solar panels to small solar outdoor lighting.

Solar Products Are Big and Bulky

You’ve probably seen pictures of massive solar fields in places like California where they generate massive amounts of electricity. Many people believe these pictures to be typical of today’s solar panels, but for everyday use solar panels can range in size from a few inches for small items to a few feet for powering backup generators. Today’s solar panels are portable and can be folded into easy to carry pouches. We have panels of all shapes and sizes. The days of large bulky solar panels and products are over.

Solar Cells Are Fragile

Remember when cells phones were so fragile that a slight drop and the screen would crack? Modern smartphones can be dropped and even submerged in water with no problems. Solar panels have taken a similar course. Early panels were very fragile, but through the years, the process of creating them has advanced where they are much sturdier than before. While we don’t recommend throwing them about willy nilly, they can take being packed and weather most of what Mother Nature can offer.

Solar powered products are some of the best investments for someone both at home and for vacations and camping. Don’t believe everything you here and look at some of our products to see if they’re right for you.
