The GoSun Line of Portable Solar Cookers

Posted 10-26-2018 | Filed under Product Guides | Comments (0)

The idea behind the GoSun line of stoves was founded by solar energy expert, Patrick Sherwin while disassembling a solar water heating device. He realized that the vacuum tubes alone may be enough to properly heat and roast his lunch, and with that, an idea was born. While volunteering with non-profits overseas he experienced first-hand the widespread energy poverty and set out to make a difference. Today we will discuss the benefits of solar cooking and spotlight the GoSun Sport, Grill and the new and most affordable GoSun Go Portable Solar Cooker.

What Benefits does Solar Cooking Offer?

Based on information from the United Nations, one of the largest issues in modern day is clean cooking. Every day, 40% of earths population is still cooking on open fires. This consumes forests which affects local wildlife and preservation and is extremely inefficient and costly. When cooking with Solar power, there is no harmful smoke or emissions created. The World Health Organization estimates that roughly 4 million people die prematurely as a result of illness from household air pollution when cooking with solid fuels. Solar cooking also greatly reduces Carbon Dioxide emissions which is beneficial for the environment.
How Does it Work?

Sunlight is focused by the compound parabolic reflectors onto the tube, heating the inner chamber. The vacuum tube acts as a near-perfect insulator, converting more than 80% of the Sun’s rays into focused heat. The heat inside mimics that of an oven, reaching temperatures of up to 550°F/ 280°C.

The Classic GoSun Sport Solar Oven

The GoSun Sport is the original Solar Stove that can cook full meals in as little as 20 minutes. While internally heating up to 550°F (290°C), the Sport stays cool to the touch. With the ability to set up in seconds, the 7.5 lb stove is perfect for RVing, camping, backpacking or simply relaxing in the comfort of your own backyard. Featuring the ability to operate in cold and windy temperatures, as long as there is sun, you’re in business.

The GoSun Solar Grill

The GoSun Solar Grill is the largest model accommodating up to eight people on a single cook. This model was designed specifically for feeding the entire family and with its cool to the touch feature and simple use instructions, its actually quite fun to use. With the purchase of the Solar Grill you receive multiple trays and pans that make cooking your favorite dish easier than ever. Featuring the ability to steam, bake, fry, roast and boil. We frequently see this product being used on long trips, RV and Tiny home living, Camping and hiking outings and for residential households during outages.

GoSun Go Portable Solar Cooker

The newly released GoSun Go Solar Cooker is the most compact and affordable version of the Solar stove to date. The light-weight 2 lb composition and EVA foam hardshell case makes it the perfect add-on to your pack and hiking gear. One of the most popular features is the ability to boil water which is invaluable in an emergency situation. This makes rehydrating foods easy on the fly.
