A few years ago, we experienced a series of phenomena known as a Blood Moon Eclipse. This occurrence takes place when sunlight scatters shorter wavelength colors such as green and blue, allowing the red colors of sunset and sunrise to shine through. These rays of light hit Earth's atmosphere at a specific angle, creating a reddish-orange hue on the surface of the moon.
We recently experienced what is known as a Super Blood Wolf Moon in January of 2019. A large number of concerned folks have contacted us regarding this uncommon occurrence, seeking both feedback and advice. Is this the start of things to come or a simple visual wonder? I wanted to use our weekly blog as a means to canvas our readers and hear your feedback.
Religious and Ancient Cultures
In mankinds earlier history, the blood moon was perceived as a sign of approaching doom or a cataclysmic event. The Incan people for example, saw this occurrence as a possible end of times omen, as they believed their king and royal line to be the offspring or relative of the Sun and Moon. This change in color was viewed as an attack on the moon, of which, Earth would be targeted next. This may sound a bit outlandish, however, the Incans were known to be rather accurate in predicting celestial events.
A few religious groups have referenced specific biblical passages that mention the Blood moon, stating that they, like the Ancient Incas, believe may have a correlation to an incoming doomsday event. This brings me to the main point of our weekly Blog...What do you think of the Blood Moon? Please comment below and offer up your opinion!
