History and Development
Between 1919 and 1922 Swedish engineer students Baltzar von Platen and Carl Munters designed a cooling cabinet with no compressor, moving parts or ice. By applying heat to a boiler, they found a cooling agent could circulate, absorbing the internal heat and thus creating a cooling effect. This cabinet was the worlds first refrigerator. A couple years later, in 1925, a growing appliance company by the name of Electrolux acquires the manufacturing rights, which leads way to refrigerators being placed into every middle-class home.
